On September 19, 2025, Indiana School Nutrition Association’s Policy, Public, and Legislative (PP&L) Chair Amanda Worrick and Co-Chair Shenae Rowe met with Governor Mike Braun in Jasper, Indiana to advocate for #HealthySchoolMealsForAllHoosiers

The conversation focused on ensuring that every Hoosier student has reliable access to nutritious school meals—a cornerstone of both academic success and overall well-being.

During the meeting, Worrick and Rowe discussed:

🔹 The urgent need for healthy school meals for all students, regardless of family income.

🔹 How proposed SNAP and Medicaid cuts could reduce access to free meals for children who depend on them.

🔹 The growing burden of student meal debt and the financial strain it places on underfunded school nutrition programs.

Their discussion underscored the importance of continued collaboration between policymakers and school nutrition professionals to safeguard equitable meal access across Indiana.

Healthy school meals are more than just food - they’re fuel for learning. When students are nourished, they’re better prepared to focus, achieve, and thrive.

The Healthy School Meals for All Hoosiers coalition, a project of the Indiana School Nutrition Association, calls on policymakers, educators, families, and community leaders to join us in advocating for long-term solutions that ensure every Hoosier student has access to nutritious, no-cost school meals. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier Indiana—one school meal at a time.

Together, we remain committed to building a future where no Hoosier child goes hungry at school.
